Rider Profile: Evan Cullen.

Third up in our series of rider profiles for our Scott Junior Tour 2017 participants is all-round good guy,  Evan ‘Kevin’ Cullen.

BIO: Living in Slieverue, Co. Kilkenny I took up cycling a couple of years ago now and I suppose my father really was the person who got me into the sport as he raced when he was my age at a very high level and his father Tony would of been very much involved in Waterford cycling too, so it was pretty much bet into me at a young age. I have had my ups and downs on the bike but all in all I’ve loved it and wouldn’t think about another sport. I’ve raced a lot now over the last 3 years and had my fair share of placing’s as an u15 and u16 but not as near as many as a junior sadly…. I have mixed emotions about the junior tour, l am really looking forward to it but also am very  nervous as to what to expect and what will happen but sure look I’ll give it a lash anyway and see what happens!

Q1; What is your favourite Irish race and why?

EC;   Probably the paddy Flanagan memorial in Newbridge this year just because it’s one of the only races I was happy with.

Q2; What is your favourite race on the professional calender and why?

EC;  Have to say it would have to be Paris-Roubaix. Its exciting from start to finish and just so challenging for a rider to win it makes it all the more exciting to watch.

Q3; Who is your favourite current professional cyclist and why?

EC; I would say Tom Dumoulin, after transforming himself to a GC rider to win the Giro in the way that he did.

Q4; Who is your favourite retired professional cyclist and why?

EC;  Fabian Cancellara without a doubt after winning all he did. The several Tour stages, Milan San Remo, Paris-Roubaix and Tour of Flanders.

Q5; What was the last book you read?

EC; Pretty sure it was Inside the Peloton, Nicolas Roche’s book.

Q6; What is your favourite movie?

EC;  A tough one but I’d have to say any of the fast and the furious movies. I love a good comedy though and stepbrothers would be another one of my favourites.

Q7; What kind of music do you listen to?

EC;  Anything at all really……

Q8; Any hobbies off the bike?

EC;  Relaxing, recovering and either watching cycling on the T.V or playing it on the PlayStation.

Q9;  What are your expectations for the junior tour?

EC;  I don’t know what Aarons been saying about getting the lanterne rouge but that 40 quid is mine! On a more serious note I just want to get through the 6 days and finish.
