Young Miceál Hayes’ impressive breakthrough season in the A3/Junior ranks draws to a close in which he completed a fantastic Junior Tour of Ireland in July, as well as a string of top 10 and podium placings in one day races including 2nd at the Paddy Flanagan, 3rd in both the Newbridge GP and Sliabh Luachra races, 5th in the Deenside Cup and more recently a 1st junior price in one of the Mondello series races and the Munster Criterium Championships, topped off on the last Sunday in August with the Junior Title at the Munster Road Race Championships.
Well now Miceál has been given the fantastic opportunity to travel to the other side of the world this week to race in Korea with the Nicolas Roche Performance Team (NRPT) at the Tour de DMZ which runs for 5 days from August 30th to September 3rd. About 230 junior cyclists from 25 teams from around the world will participate in the youth race. They will ride on a 510km route stretching from Goseong, a Gangwon Province town on the east coast, to Ganghwa, an Incheon district on the west coast, for the five days.
Best of luck Miceál and safe travels.
